Even though rain has delayed the start of numerous games across the country, there is already plenty of action in Detroit.
Detroit is currently up 3-2 against the Royals in the top of the 7th. The Tigers struck first when Edgar Renteria singled in Carlos Guillen in the 2nd inning.
Later on, newly acquired 3B Miquel Cabrera went deep quickly for his new team, smashing the ball off of Royals starter Gil Meche, for a solo shot in the 5th.
Justin Verlander has been solid, minus a 2-run bomb surrendered to Alex Gordon in the 6th. Through 6 innings he has given up just 3 hits, no walks and stuck out 6.
Other notes:
Magglio Ordonez and Carlos Guillen are both 2/3.
Marl Grudzielanek recorded an SB.
