According to MLB.com Tony LaRussa has decided to bat his catcher 8th and his pitcher 9th. Last year he experimented with hitting his pitcher 8th and his worst hitter Aaron Miles 9th.
Tony, after 100+ years of baseball, did you really think you were doing something revolutionary by batting your pitcher 8th? Trying to defy logic, LaRussa needs a better plan.
If they still had Jason Marquis, he would likely be their best #2 hitter. I don't know which of their starting hitters is worse: Adam Kennedy, Cesar Izturis, Rick Ankiel, Chris Duncan, Yadier Molina or Troy Glaus.
Please don't get carried away with Glaus, Ankiel and Duncan. Yes, they can hit 20 homers. But, a .250 AVG means you are striking out or hitting solo shots.
If Pujols were to miss time, San Francisco Giants, watch out.
On the bright side, LaRussa may insert Jason Isringhausen at 1B and bat him 7th.

I was just linked here for the first time ever (and likely the last.) But before I leave forever, can someone explain when the "objective" part comes into play at this blog of "Objective insight to sabermetrics and strategy in fantasy baseball"?
Daniel,
If your first visit was likely your last, wouldn't viewing the answer to your question count towards you returning a second time?
